Clubs and Wraparound Care

Wraparound Care

We are now able to offer a fantastic wraparound care service run by local childcare provider, Rocketeers. Breakfast and after school clubs are run onsite at Trafalgar meaning the children do not have to travel anywhere after school for their childcare, leading to a safe and smooth transition. Rocketeers link with our Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum, enriching it with their own exciting activities and offer opportunities to take part in a variety of activities both inside and out and about in our school grounds (including our garden and outdoor learning environment). This allows the children to be as active as they need after the school day, or they can relax in the cosy book area and chill out as needed. Rocketeers runs 5 days a week and is open from 7.30am until the start of the school day at 8.50am and then from the end of the school day at 3.15pm until 6.00pm. The morning session includes breakfast and the after school session includes a snack. Once a child is registered with Rocketeers they can be booked in for regular sessions or adhoc sessions as needed as well as INSET days and holiday clubs. For more information please visit the Rocketeers website www.rocketeerschildcare.co.uk

Gardening Club - Summer 2016

Celebrations were the order of the day at Trafalgar Community Infant School when the school's Gardening Club won first place in the Horsham in Bloom Schools competition!

News of the win came through just before the end of the Summer term in July 2016, and gave the Year 2 children another reason to treasure their final days at the school before moving on in September.

The theme of the competition was Rhymes and Stories and the book chosen for Trafalgar's garden was 'The Queen's Knickers' - very appropriate for our own Queen's 90th birthday!  The children worked hard to produce artwork accompanying a colourful and fun plant display; Her Majesty's handbag was filled with bright blooms, her throne held more spectacular flowers and there were strawberries for the royal garden party.  The display was decorated with knicker-shaped bunting made by the children.  Potatoes, courgettes and runner beans were also cultivated by the children, all aged 7 years old.

An awards ceremony at Newbridge Nurseries, sponsors of the schools competition, was held on Thursday 29th October and the Trafalgar team was delighted to receive £100 in gardening vouchers as the winning prize!

We were delighted to receive a letter from Buckingham Palace in reply to a letter and photographs we had sent to the Queen!

Well done to all!
